Tory Burch Revas for Less

Ok, so haven't we all thought about how to get the Tory Burch Revas at a discounted price? Bloomingdale's private started today and ends Saturday, December 2nd. What does this mean? If you buy 2 or more regularly priced shoes, you get 25% off your entire purchase. On top of that, if you have a Bloomies charge card, you get coupons that grant you $25 off every $100 spent. Let's do the math shall we? $195 with 25% off minus $25 equals $121.25! If I hadn't bought mine already, I would have so taken advantage. Thankfully, my friends were able to cash in on the deal. The secret is to find a friend who is also willing to buy a pair of shoes. That way, you won't get suckered into buying 2 - well, unless you want to of course. =)

Check your nearest Bloomingdales for available stock. If they don't have it & if you have the patience to look around, ask the sales representative to do an item locator. Usually major cities are your best bet. New York 59th Street always seems to have more inventory. Good luck!

jimmy choo IT bags

One day, I'll be able to add Jimmy Choo to my collection but maybe with a pair of shoes to start. Celebrities love to tote Jimmy Choo and justifiably so because the bags are so damn tote worthy. You have the Ramona on Jessica's arm - which is the patent leather bucket bag ($1,450) on Saks Fifth Avenue, pictured right. On the left, not sure what her name is but it's a shiny calf/suede bag ($1,895) also available on Saks Fifth Avenue. When will "one day" come around? I want!

Eyelash Extensions II

First day at work with my lashes and I kid you not, at least 5 people exclaimed how different I looked today. One person asked if I was wearing make up. I didn't know how to answer that since I do wear make up every day but ...I guess I'll take it as a compliment. One person even asked if I was in love! How funny!

I'll let my curious audience guess but I won't tell - just like you can't tell people you get Botox or plastic surgery.

If you're looking to get extensions, I'd suggest going to a Shavasana certified beauty professional. You can find a listing of professionals near you on their Web site. It's important to go to a certified extensionist. Believe it or not, some beauticians aren't even licensed to apply lashes! Shavasana lashes can only be applied by a licensed or medical professional - so, rest assured, they've had proper training.

As also tipped by California Style, if you're in the Boston area, visit:

She did my lashes, and I love them!

Boot Talk

After all this talk about boots and which pair, which style to choose - I finally sealed the deal. The Steve Madden Heidii's are a compromise of style and pricing. This boot mimicks a combination of designer styles. Thanks to my gal pal Peilee for her eagle eyes and open mind, I can finally relax on boot shopping.......well, for at least a week. =)

FYI - Steve Madden is currently having a boot sale - $10 off selected styles!

Eyelash Extensions

Feels good to be back in Boston. Flew home for the weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving and to see all my friends and family. But of course, what is a weekend trip without shopping? Did my usual drop by at Saks Fifth Avenue on Friday morning. If you're from Boston, you'll notice that the store is doing some heavy renovations. Speaking of renovations, the Bloomingdales in Chesnut hill opened at its new location a month ago and it's ginormous! It's worth stopping by if you haven't seen it yet.

Anyhow, after months of wanting eyelash extensions (& thanks to a tip from my cousin California Style), I got them done! I have to say, I'm impressed with what a difference it makes. I love how it opens your eyes! It took about an hour for the initial application and it's completely painless. Once they're applied, you have to be careful not to rub or use oil-based products (oil loosens the adhesive causing your lashes to come off). It's fun to try and now I can put my eyelash curler and mascara to rest. For maintenance, you just need to make monthly visits for refills. After a few months of wear, it's recommended that you take off your lashes (with baby oil - don't pull!) to let them breathe. It's like acrylic nails. Every now again, it's only healthy to go natural.

For more information, read this article in Vogue's May issue on Eyelash Extensions.

If you are adamant against getting false lashes, there are other options - Jan Marini's age intervention eyelash is the next big thing in eyelash technology. It's a treatment that helps to thicken and lengthen your real lashes.

But whatever you decide, I hope that you give it a try!

Chloe v.s. Dolce Vita

Check out Sienna Miller. She was recently spotted in London in her high heel boots again. I know why she loves them so much. They're just gorgeous. Ahh, if only I had pockets deep enough to afford these Chloe Silverados. If you do, by all means check out them out at Net-A-Porter but they're almost all sold out - even at $1,155!

Or a more attractive option - for $250 - $280, you can go with either the Dolce Vita double-buckle platform or multi-buckle platform.

Talk about splurge versus steal & both equally cute. =)

Saks Thanksgiving Holiday Sale

Drum roll please. Black Friday is the craziest shopping day of the year. Sales everywhere. People reaching over and pushing into you to get the last X,Y, and Z. Just nuts!

Black Friday for me is just Saks Fifth Avenue. It's a yearly tradition - to be at the doors of Saks Fifth Avenue at 8:00 a.m the day after Thanksgiving. From 8am - 12pm - it's 40% off sale rack upon sale rack and 40% off selected full price merchandise. Last year, that included some Vince and Marc Jacobs.

Curious to see what the perk was this year, I gave Saks a call (partly because I need to validate why I wake up so early to go shopping). Twice, I was given the answer - "We won't know what the sale will be until Friday morning." I'm thinking, what's going to be my motivation this year?

I know the answer. I deduce that since it's such a big secret - then it must be something really worth going to. What do you think?

For the East Coasters, the sale begins online now - us West Coasters can take advantage a few hours early.

Shop the selection online now at Saks.com

Rachel Zoe's Winter '06 Style Guide

Rachel Zoe is rumored to have lost Nicole Ritchie as her client but that doesn't make her less knowledgeable about what's hot. Here are my favorite looks from her Winter Style Guide, brought to you by Revolve Clothing.

Look 2
Tailored Hoodie with Pocket Dress
"
Dresses with pockets are so fun and flirty! I love the playfulness of this look and how easy it is to go from day to night with the change of a shoe. The cropped jacket is a great layering piece because it keeps you warm without overwhelming the outfit underneath. Try this over dresses or experiment with different lengths by throwing it on over a long top and trouser shape."

Look 5
Plaid Romper with Cropped Jacket
"I love this
romper because it offers such a casual way to be stylish and playful at the same time. Dress it up with a fun pair of wedges or keep it casual with flats. Don't hesitate to throw it on over tights and wear it with boots when the weather gets colder. This piece is as versatile as it is fun!"

Look 7
Silver Jacket with Black Jeans
"A good pair of jeans is a stylist's best friend. And I love how the season's black and gray denim trends give a girl so many more wardrobe options. With so much black in our winter closet, metallics are a great way to add contrast as with this Adam + Eve jacket with black piping."

Look 8
Mod Mini with Wedge Boots
"In a return to the fab energy of the swinging
60s, a mini tunic is perfect for the daring fashionista who wants to get noticed. I also love throwing it on over leggings for added comfort or over a pair of skinny jeans for daytime outings about town."

Look 10
The Little Black Dress with Jacket
This
bubble dress is such a sweet and youthful silhouette. The empire waist and pockets add a subtle twist to the little black dress. Cropped jackets are perfect for layering, and the geometric print on this Mint piece is simply standout. I love finishing a look with metallic accents such as these gold gems from Ashley Dearborn.

Hair Do's

Enter Fred Segal Salon. Exit Marvelous Hair. I needed a new stylist and I found one - thanks to my lovely roommate for sharing her trade secret.

For years, I couldn't get away from the same straight and layered cut - most of you are familiar with the Jennifer Aniston hair. Indeed, that was me.

So, I knew my next stylist would be confronted with a challenge of sorts. I didn't want "different" to be long hair to boy cut or black to blonde - but rather, a noticeable change in how my hair falls, the volume, and bounce. I swear, there's a true science to it.

I told him my story, my wants, my needs. He sat me down, studied my hair for a moment, and laid it out. He was going to add volume to my hair by cutting short top layers. He was going to keep the length but make my bottom layer almost wispy so that I could easily curl or flip. Best of all, he assured me that upkeep would be minimal meaning, it would be totally low maintenance. (Afterall, I only have 10 minutes to spare for styling in the morning before scrambling to work).

Cut, cut, chop, chop.....blowdry, tease, and curl....yes, he taught me all those techniques and I was utterly amazed. A+ for a first impression (not me, but for my hair and for him too).

I went back the next week for highlights and oddly enough, it is almost identical to Nicole Ritchie's new hair...a picture I came across today. Very subtle highlights....but enough to make a difference.

Stay tuned for an exclusive update on my stylist, Tim Ou, and a chance to get a free hair cut!

My Mike & Chris Brown Bag

Caught the tail end of the Mike & Chris sample sale and surprisingly, the selection wasn't as horrid as I anticipated for the last day of a sale. With only one mirror in a small venue that is the heart of where all the concepting and design takes place (aka the office of Mike & Chris), you can imagine how difficult it was to sift through racks and to model your findings. Though, I was gloriously able to snatch the last Logan (left).

I also took home with me Cody and Lucas & I love my 3 new boys. Out of the 3, Cody (below) is my favorite.
If you weren't able to make it to the sale, you can still shop Mike and Chris on sale. Le Train Bleu has some great pieces at a generously discounted price.

Winter Beauty

In LA, winter is really not winter. The sun is always shining and the sky never ceases to be blue. I do, however, have compassion for those of you in cold weather climates. I'm an east coast native and have endured years of brutal winters...so, I deserve some rights to boast. =) Anyhow, at the first sign of brisk weather, it is important to take extra precautions to maintain a moisturized and healthly complexion. That, I remember and that, I feel is important to touch upon. Afterall, the clothes on your body can only do so much - no matter how fashionable you look. Here's my daily regimin --- what's yours?

Long hours at work and lack of sleep has forced me to invest in expensive nightcream. I currently use Creme de la Mer. Starting at $110 a jar, it is pricey but really does the job of hydrating your skin. Apply at night daily, and your skin will be noticeably softer.

Before La Mer, I smooth a thin layer of Trish McEvoy's Vitamin C Cream on my face to keep an even and radiant skin tone. It's very light but yet works so powerfully.Under the eyes, I dabb Kiehl's Abyssine Eye Cream. Use ring fingers for the most gentle application . The skin around your eyes is the most vulnerable to wrinkles! Start under eye treatment as early as possible and you'll love yourself for it when you're 50.
My day lotion is Oil of Olay's Complete Defense formula with 30 SPF. It's a great product and at an affordable price. West coasters don't have to worry too much about dry , cracked skin but we do worry about sun exposure and how serious rays and cause serious wrinkles . Word to the wise, SPF.
To sidetrack a bit, my roommate has been ranting and raving about the Kiehl's Simply Mahvelous Shave Cream and I have to admit, this stuff really makes your legs luxuriously silky and smooth. And I mean, baby soft!

Lesson learned? Be good to your skin and your skin will be good to you.

Oh, Eva is so hot! Here she is at the premiere of Harsh Times, in which she stars with Christian Bale. The movie opened in theaters this past weekend. The movie didn't get great reviews but Eva sure does.

She is looking gorgeous in a Guy Laroche gown and I must add that her leopord Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps are also pretty sizzlin'.

“Likeness Search™ our aLike Look Book to inspire your personal style”

Dressing like your favorite celebrity is now easier than ever. On Like.com, you can browse and purchase items as seen on your favorite celebs. You can search by term, category, or celebrity. Say I want to search by Jessica Simpson. I land on a page with the latest pix of Jess, highlighting either her newest handbag, accessory, or shoes. Her handbag catches my eye, so I go on to perform a "likeness search." My query will draw handbags upon handbags similar to the one she's wearing. I can refine my search even further by color, pattern, shape, or price. If I see one I like, I can purchase it.

The celebrities you can choose from are: Mischa Barton, Halle Berry, Beyonce, Jessica Biel, Rachel Bilson, Diddy, Fergie, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Sienna Miller, Brad Pitt, Jessica Simpson.

The celebrities that are coming soon are: The Olson Twins, Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba and Nicole Richie

Area Nightclub

Last night I had my first opportunity to check out the Hollywood scene and let me tell you, it was just that - and who better to go with then fellow blogger and the most lovely, Fashion Kitty. If you haven't already, go check out her blog and get her latest fashion scoop!

Area Nightclub is Hollywood's new Hyde. Run by SBE Entertainment and Bolthouse Productions (accredited for Hyde, Lobby & Priviledge), you need to either know someone, be someone, or come armed with serious girl power to get in. Though, it's worth checking out if you can handle the politics at the door.

My take? It's definitely a scene. Mekhi Phifer (ER), the Wayans Brothers, Jason and Brian from Laguna and the Hills, and Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) were out last night and you have your a-listers like Ashlee Simpson and Lindsay Lohan who are also regulars.

It's classy and you actually have room to move (unlike LAX and Hyde, which are the size of my bedroom). Decor is like your average mod nightclub. Music is super danceable. Atmosphere is super trendy but relaxed.

Comeback Britney

We've all done our fairshare of picking on Britney. The press and public love to scrutinize her every decision. Whether it's deserved criticism or just exaggerated news to slap on a magazine cover, we have to admit, this poor girl has been through alot. Yah, we all knew what K-Fed was up to when he left his pregnant wife to run off with a millionaire pop-singer. And yah, we all knew it was a bad idea to wear heels on cobblestone, baby-in-hand or not. Regardless, she finally came to her senses and thanks to that signed prenupt, Kevin Federline won't be walking away with more.

She's finally turning back up the hill and cutting ties to her past. Brit's selling her Malibu mansion for $13.5 million dollars. She paid $6.9 m back in 2004 .

With that said, I'm an ex (or just plain turned-off) fan rooting for her solo comeback. She looked great on David Letterman. Go Britney!

The Look

Two words. Sweater. Dresses. I must say, this is my favorite look of the season. Long v-necks, turtlenecks, scoop-necks and cardigans - I love them all! Pair with leggings, stockings, or knee-high boots. Cinch your waist with leather like Jess and you have trendista written all over you. Ok, maybe i'm just a little too excited about this look. =)

I wasn't too sure about wearing my cowboy boots this year - but apparantly, they're still in so I rocked mine with some brown stockings and a long sweater cardigan and was able to catch some curious eyes.

Left, @ the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund event. Blazers over cute cocktail dresses. I must say, I've been seeing this quite often lately. Something to keep in mind with holiday partys coming up. Jacket on during dinner or pre-party and jacket off when the martinis kick in. The brocade babydoll jacket by Mint can be worn at night or during the day. It's one of those must-have items that work well for anytime of the day, any occasion.

Graphic printed frocks....something Diane von Furstenberg is wonderful at creating. It's a plus up for basic cuts and just fun to wear. Pick a design that's not too over the board and colors that carry through the seasons and you have a classic wardrobe item -- something like the Laetitia dress by DVF, shown below.

And finally, what to spoil your feet with? My last obsession was with leapord. My current infatuation is with python and crocodile, whether it be on your shoes or on your bag. This snakeskin replica by Report Signature particularly caught my eye. Hot!!

Gettin' Stitch-y

These Stitch's don't hurt! Supposedly, these jeans are made for wearing....and comfortably too. Light-weight and soft are my first memories of Stitch's denim and apparantly this holds true of their entire collection. I'll have to make a personal visit to Barney's for a try of the new Moccasin line.

Adorn Yourself

Getting to know a city like LA is a huge undertaking. I have a checklist of things I want to do and see. Today's task was to shop the Fairfax Flea Market. "Cheap vintage finds" was the buzz that drew me in and it was no surprise to me to see what seemed like hundreds of tents filled with goodies from decades ago. One girl held up an elastic belt with vinyl trim and smiled - "These belts are straight from the eighties - ten dollars". I passed because purple's just not my color but there were numerous belts, some brightly colored faux leather and others more cowboy-esque style with tarnished buckles. Old leather clutches were selling for $1 a piece. You can find anything from clothing, jewelry, records, artwork, antiques, to 70s decor. Amongst all the old, there is scattered some new.

I stopped short at the Shari Wacks table decorated with gem-stoned and charmed accessories ranging from necklaces to bracelets to earrings. You can find Shari's jewelry at Fred Segal, Bloomies and Nordstrom. Twice a month, you can find her stuff at the Fairfax Flea Market and also get to meet the designer herself. She can give you a 101 on how to layer your necklaces.

Single-drop or charms? I have to make a 2nd trip to the flea market to decide.

Fans of Shari Wacks: Mischa Barton, Keira Knightly, Jennifer Lopez, Mira Sorvino and Amanda Bynes

The scoop on the Fairfax Flea Market:

When: Sundays, 9am to 5 pm
Where: Fairfax Highschool, 7850 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles
Price: $2 admission
Parking: Yes, and free. Enter on Fairfax

Shoppers please advise. Be ready to rummage and sift through hangers!

Dolce Vita

Your feet are in for a sweet life if you dress them up with kicks by Dolce Vita.

Remember we were all oo-ing and ahh-ing over Ashlee's boots when she was first pictured wearing them? Well, search no longer, you can snag a pair of the Cuff Tie Boot on Shopbop.

The best part is you don't have to break the bank to afford a pair of these kicks. Works for me!

And here we have Jess in Dolce Vita's 'multi-buckle' platform.....Hmm, I like!

Electronic Debate

There's always a place for your electronic gadget in your purse alongside your wallet, lipgloss, and car keys. Keeps you in touch with the latest fashions and news, it's e-mail at the touch of your fingertips, and most importantly, it helps to keep your friends and fam a little bit closer even if they're thousands of miles away.

When I finally realized that I matured the sidekick3, the Blackberry 8700 was looking like a pretty attractive option until I came across Indigo & Crimson, series 8800 -- the upcoming adds to the Blackberry family. The only difference between the 2 is that one has a camera (Crimson) and the other (make a wild guess) - doesn't.

Not sure I can wait until its release in January but look at how absolutely sexy it looks. Once this baby comes out, the Blackberry 8700 will be considered ancient in a heartbeat. Electronics is one expensive trend but worth investing in....don't you think?

Spotlight on Tory Burch

We've all fallen in love with the flats and the emblem is another signature in the making. The Tory Burch Spring 2007 Collection is made for the stylish conservative. It's classic sportswear you can wear over the seasons and doesn't sacrifice modern trends to do so. Have a look!

Here is a little taste of what's in store for Spring. You can view the collection here.

UPDATE: Tory Burch is bringing back the Python REVA ballerina flats. Call 866-480-TORY to locate this item at a Tory Burch store. Though I just bought myself a navy pair, I couldn't resist putting my name down for these. Rumor has it that the Tory Burch boutique on Robertson is getting a shipment next week. Good luck!
